Prefilled rechargeable vape kits, also known as disposable vape alternatives, are what everyone moved to when single-use bars vanished from UK shops in June 2025. The device charges back up over USB-C, and when a pod runs dry you click a fresh one in. It feels exactly like a disposable in the hand. You just stop binning the whole thing every couple of days.
Pods come pre-filled with 20mg nic salt in the usual fruit, menthol and sweet flavours, and kits start at £10.99 for a box of five. We stock the names people actually walk in asking for: Lost Mary, Elf Bar, SKE Crystal, Hayati and the Vaporesso Dojo lot. Have a scroll, pick a brand, and we’ll get it out to you quick.

A prefilled pod kit is a small rechargeable vape in two parts: a device that charges over USB-C, and a sealed pod that already holds flavoured nic salt. You’ll see the same thing sold as a disposable vape alternative, or as a big puff vape. Whatever the label on the shelf, it does the job the old single-use bars did, only the battery recharges and the pods click out and in.
Pod’s empty? Pull it out, push a new one in. Battery getting low? Charge it like your phone. That’s honestly the whole of it, which is why people came off disposables without missing a beat. The only habit that’s gone is the weekly walk to the bin.
The legal way to keep vaping like a disposable
A rechargeable device, click-in flavour pods, and none of the daily waste.
Yes, prefilled pod kits are completely legal in the UK. What got banned on 1 June 2025 was the single-use disposable, the kind you couldn’t charge or refill. A pod kit does both, so it sits well inside the rules: 2ml pods, nicotine no higher than 20mg, fully TPD-compliant. The disposables are gone. The rechargeable kits that took their place aren’t going anywhere.
Prefilled isn’t only the big stuff. It runs from a 600 right up to 25,000 puffs, and the savings stack up at both ends. Start with a heavy vaper, where it’s most dramatic.

Illustrative pre-ban disposable pricing. Live kit prices start at £10.99 a box of five.
A single disposable felt cheap. A week of them never was. Here’s the fuller breakdown.
| Format | Up front | Puffs | Then what | Per ~6,000 puffs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Old disposable (banned) | ~£5.99 each | ~600 | Bin the lot | ~£60 (ten bars) |
| Prefilled pod kit | From ~£6 a device* | 6,000–10,000 | Swap a £2–£3 pod | ~£8–£12 |
| Refillable kit | From ~£6 a device* | Refill 12ml | Top up from a salt bottle | ~£6–£9 |
*Big-puff devices sell by the box of five, so a £29.99 box works out around £6 a device. All prices include VAT.
Take the classic 600, now sold as the Lost Mary BM600 prefilled pod kit rather than a throwaway bar. The maths flips the same way.
£5.99
One single-use 600
600 puffs, then the whole device went in the bin.
£5.99
A 2-pack of BM600 pods
≈ 50% cheaperAround 1,200 puffs across two pods, and your kit keeps going.
Compared with the old single-use price. BM600 kits and pods sell by the box at VapeCity, so your real per-pod cost works out lower again.
The law made the first move for people. Money is what kept them here. Take the Lost Mary BM6000: a box of five is £29.99, so about six quid a device, and one device handles 6,000 puffs before the pod wants any attention. Six quid wouldn’t have seen you through the week on disposables.
Then there’s flavour. You’re no longer stuck with whatever the bar happened to come filled with. One device, and you hop between blue razz, watermelon, menthol, cola, whatever you fancy that week. The battery stays in your pocket too, so a lot less plastic ends up in the bin by Sunday.
They don’t all work the same, and honestly the names tell you nothing. So here’s the plain-English version before you spend a penny.
2-in-1
EASIEST START
One refillable vape pod takes a single pod at a time. Vape it, swap it, carry on. Straight off disposables? This is the closest match, so start here.
4-in-1
FLAVOUR FLEX
Holds up to four pods at once and lets you flick between them. Handy if you like a mint and a fruit on the go at the same time.

HIGHEST PUFFS
A pod sits next to a little reservoir that keeps topping it up by itself. That’s the trick behind the Hayati Pro+ 25K and its 25,000 puffs.
Bigger isn’t automatically better, whatever the box shouts. It comes down to how much you actually get through. Buy way more puffs than you use and you’re just lugging round liquid that’ll taste flat by the time you reach it. The rough rule we give people over the counter: if a disposable used to last you a day, a 6,000 to 10,000 puff kit will see out most of the week.

Charge it first
Give it a full charge over USB-C before your first puff. Twenty to forty minutes sorts most kits out.
Fit the pod
Push the prefilled pod in till it clicks and sits flush. Got a refillable one like the BM6000? Fill the pod, then leave it a couple of minutes.
Prime it
Take a few gentle draws without firing it first. That pulls liquid into the coil so a fresh pod doesn’t taste burnt.
Vape and top up
Flavour going? Swap the pod. Light blinking? Charge it. That really is the lot.
The same few issues come up again and again, and nearly all of them are a two-minute fix. Burnt or harsh taste? The pod most likely went on dry, so let a fresh one soak for a couple of minutes before you draw on it. A weak hit on a kit you’ve only just opened is almost always a flat battery, nothing more. Leaks usually mean the wrong pod for that device, or one that hasn’t clicked properly home. And if the flavour’s gone dull, the pod is simply spent, so swap it. Still stuck after all that? Drop us a message before anything hits the bin.
This is the one bit worth getting right. Pods are made for specific devices. Lost Mary pods go in a Lost Mary, Elf Bar pods in an Elf Bar, and they won’t seal properly if you mix brands. So once you’ve picked a kit, keep a few matching replacement pods in the drawer for when it runs dry. They start at £10.99, a fair bit less than buying a whole new kit.
Don’t fancy being tied to one brand’s pods? A refillable vape pod you top up with your own nic salt opens up every flavour we sell, and over a year it’s the cheapest way to vape, full stop.
Out of pods, not options.
Grab matching replacement pods, or go refillable and pick your own nic salt.
No. Single-use disposable vapes were banned from sale on 1 June 2025. The legal replacement is the rechargeable prefilled pod kit, also called a disposable vape alternative, which is fully TPD-compliant with 2ml pods and up to 20mg nicotine.
A disposable was one sealed unit you binned when it died. A pod kit keeps the rechargeable device and you only swap the pod, so it costs less to run, lasts far longer and makes a fraction of the waste.
Anything from around 600 to over 25,000, depending on the kit. Lighter vapers do fine on a smaller pod. Heavy, all-day vapers save money and pod swaps by going big, like the Hayati Pro+ 25K.
A 2-in-1 runs one pod at a time. A 4-in-1 holds up to four and lets you switch flavours on the same device. Coming off a disposable? A 2-in-1 is the simplest place to start.
Pods are device-specific, so always grab pods made for your exact kit. Lost Mary pods in a Lost Mary, and so on. Match them up and they click in and seal properly.
Most prefilled pods are 20mg nic salt, which gives a smooth, satisfying hit that suits ex-smokers. You’ll find the strength on every product page.
Yes, and it’s not even close. The device costs you once, roughly £6 in a box of five, then you’re only buying the £2 to £3 pod. Cost per puff lands well under a fresh disposable every couple of days.
Over USB-C, the same as your phone. Most kits are full again in under an hour and the cable’s in the box. You just need your own plug.
